"Mined pre 1941. Gosch furnace in use 1955–1960s installed by entrepreneur. 16 localities of antimony ore in Lebyin area. Estimated resource 0.1138 million tons @ 1.64–34.5% Sb. Mitchell et al. (1999, 2004) DGSE (2013). At Lebyin, the stibnite veins are hosted in greywacke, quartzite and shales of possible Carboniferous age and closely associated with Mesozoic granite intrusion; antimony may be accompanied by arsenic and gold. The geological settings, classification, distribution and origins of the antimony ores in Myanmar are described by Toe Aung Kyaw (2017). As appraised by Mitchell et al. (2004) the Lebyin Sb–Au deposits lie within the Ngayan Chaung Turbidites, which structurally underlie the Plateau Limestone and ‘are probably at least part equivalent to the Sweminbon Formation’ (Upper Triassic and Lower Jurassic)."
