It is also called a volcanic bubble and refers to ejecta from a volcanic eruption with a size of 64 mm or larger. In basaltic lava, spindle-shaped volcanic bombs are common, while in andesitic lava, cracked bread-crust-shaped volcanic bombs are often observed. They may have vesicles or be hollow inside.
