There are two geological units in the study area, Obogone formation (Middle Miocene) and the Irrawaddy formation (Pliocene). Lithology is Yellowish brown to brown color sandstone, siltstone, milky white to grey color mudstone and in some area, there is a gravels as a medium bedded. The Irrawaddy formation is distributes in central Myanmar and Bago Yoma range. Large sizw of Fossil wood can be seen in Mount Popa area.
