Mandalay and Thabeikkyin there is a zone of E-dipping marble and gneiss which are intruded by granites. Some occurrences, such as the Bo Ywa Mountain, form isolated horst-like uplifts that are surrounded by Cenozoic sediments . The same holds true also for the Mandalay Hill that is built up of marble and gneiss which are intruded by granite on the E flank of the hill.
