It refers to sedimentary rocks with calcium carbonate as the main component. It is white, gray or dark gray, black, and has a massive or layered shape. They are mainly formed by biological activity and in many cases contain living debris. It consists mainly of calcareous sediments of granulated matter and appears to have been deposited in a relatively high-energy environment. When hydrochloric acid is sprayed, it reacts violently and bubbles form.
