The Linwe Formation (Myint Lwin Thein 1973), named after Linwe village, approximately 24 km NE of Ye-ngan, Ye-ngan township, Shan State South, was formerly known as the Orthoceras Beds by Brown & Sondhi (1933a, b). The limestone of the Linwe Formation contains some nautiloids and crinoids which are not yet systematically identified. Micaceous shales, graptolite-bearing shale and micaceous siltstones also occur in linwe formation
