Locality Description
The stratabound Hopone deposit occurs in Palaeozoic limestone near Taunggyi and is about 20 m wide by 75 m long. The Japanese investigated this deposit during World War II and later the Shan State Mineral Syndicate operated the deposit. Orange siltstone & Mudstone, Grey burrowed dolomitic silty limestone, deep yellow siltstone, mudstone occur in Taunggyi area.
