It is a siliceous volcanic rock with the same chemical composition as granite among plutons. It generally shows a porphyritic texture, and mainly contains quartz and feldspar as phenocrysts. The color is generally bright and has a flow-like structure. It is produced by lava or rock veins on the continents or in the mid-mountain belt.
