Paleontology (Fossil)
It is a fern that flourished and then went extinct during the Carboniferous Period, and is a fossil commonly found in coal seams around the world along with other ferns. It is a land plant with vascular tissue, reproduces by spores without flowers or seeds, and has leaves that resemble wings. Considering that it thrived in a warm and humid terrestrial environment during the Carboniferous Period, its depositional environment appears to have been similar to this. It is derived from strata of the late Paleozoic Era.
