This refers to metamorphic rock formed through intermediate-stage regional metamorphism. If formed at low temperatures, it contains muscovite, chlorite, and albite. If formed at high temperatures, it contains biotite, kyanite, and garnet. Schistosity is developed. Glaucophanite is characteristically present.
