In The Linwe Formation (Myint Lwin Thein 1973), named after Linwe village, approximately 24 km NE of Ye-ngan, Ye-ngan township, Shan State South, was formerly known as the Orthoceras Beds by Brown & Sondhi (1933a, b). The formation consists of limestone and shale. The lithology varies greatly in most parts of the Shan State South.
